Technology has advanced drastically over the years. For example, food delivery service probably began with delivering food to a limited radius of km. Then it upgraded to apps that deliver food at our doorstep no matter where you leave or how far your favorite restaurant is. Recently, there have been rumors about a new drone food delivery service. Yes, you heard it right, drones to deliver food. Sounds exciting right?

For the past few years, various businesses and organizations have been concentrating on developing drones. Drones have been one of the best creations that have managed to strengthen the areas where certain industries were lagging. From quick drone food delivery service at rush hour to surveying difficult and unreachable military bases, various drones have proved beneficial.

Drone or UAV

A drone, also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle usually refers to an aircraft that is not operated by a pilot rather operated through a combination of technologies. These technologies include computer vision, AI, object avoidance tech, and others. This does not mean that it can only fly, drones can also be ground or sea vehicles. Such kinds of drones usually operate autonomously.

Most drones have various benefits like increasing work efficiency, increasing productivity. It even decreases the workload and production costs. Usage of drone technology has also shown improvement in accuracy, refining services, customer relations, and even resolved security issues on a vast scale. Because of all these benefits, many businesses have started to realize the potential, scope, and scale of global reach for drones.

These drones can be controlled either remotely or accessed via smartphone apps. This high-tech gadget possesses the capability of reaching any remote areas with little to no effort from man and requires less time and energy. This is one of the biggest reasons why they are now being adopted worldwide. They are especially needed mainly in four sectors: Military, Commercial, Personal, and Future Drone Technology.

Drone Technology: Commercial Drone Technology

Drone technology was initially used only by the military for surveillance of remote regions. But, later they were even used for aerial photography, wildlife tracking, agriculture, and more. Now, they are gaining steady momentum in the commercial sector as well. Multiple industries are putting efforts and research into drone technology and some of them are even working with drones for regular business functions.

The Business Insider’s premium research service claims that the trade for commercial and civilian drones is likely to grow between 2015 to 2020. It further adds that the market will see a compound annual growth rate of around 19% when compared to the 5% growth rate on the defense side.

Commercial drone technology is still young. But it has started to get some major investments from various industrial groups, chip companies, IT firms, and defense contractors. As of now, various businesses are still at an early stage of manufacturing drones. Such businesses are mostly located in the European, Asian, and North American regions.

As commercial drone technology will be used more and more, new doors will open to allow new functionality in a wide array of spaces. This technology could allow using  Drones To Deliver Food, drone emergency medical service, drone medicine delivery service, and more.

Will The New Drone Food Delivery Service Start In India?

The new drone food delivery service could soon become a reality in India. Various sources claim that the DGCA has given acceptance for food startups like Swiggy, Zomato, and Dunzo to use drones to deliver food. This will be India’s first step in developing local drone-based services.

According to a report, the aviation regulators have given their approvals to test fly drones to a team of thirteen companies. Few of these companies include SpiceJet airline, the drone startup Asteria Aerospace, Zomato, Swiggy, and Dunzo.

This team of thirteen consortia will have to finish a minimum of 100 hours of flight time in the specific airspace designed by the Airport Authority of India. The companies will have to finish the task by September end. After the completion of 100 hours of drone flight time, they will have to submit their reports to the DGCA.

The Final Words
