Slow Mode Feature

Another similar feature of Telegram is the ‘Slow Mode’. This feature limits people from sending messages in a group chat on Telegram. If you enable the slow mode feature for a particular group, then the members of that particular group will not be able to send messages up till a certain time.

Some users send plenty of messages continuously due to which disruption is caused in the group order. It becomes difficult for people to read a bunch of messages. Plus sometimes you can even miss out on previous messages. Now, this is where the slow mode feature of Telegram comes in handy. This feature limits the speed of people in a group chat to send messages continuously. Using this, the group admin can prevent certain members or all the members from sending messages in the group for a specified period.

Given below are the steps you need to follow in case you want to activate the slow mode feature on your Telegram:

  • Step 1:  At first, you need to tap on the group name or icon present at the top of the chat.
  • Step 2: Then, you need to tap on either the ‘Edit’ option if you are using an iOS, or the ‘Pencil icon’ in case you are using an Android device.
  • Step 3: Next, you need to select the option of ‘Permissions’ from a particular menu that will be displayed on your screen thereafter.
  • Step 4: At the bottom-most part of the very same page where you found the option of ‘Permissions’, you will find the ‘slow mode slider’.

Points to be noted

  • The slow mode slider displayed on your screen will range from “30 seconds to 1 hour”. Based on your preference, you can choose how long each member must wait before sending the messages in the Telegram group chat.
  • The slow mode feature can be enabled as well as disabled.
  • Other than this, the slow mode feature can also be used to create an exception for only one user to send messages or media.

The Steps That You Need To Follow For This Purpose

Step 1: On the same screen that activated the slow mode feature on your Telegram, you will find an option of ‘Add exception’. Click on it.

  • Step 2: Then you need to select the particular member from the list of users in the group chat who you want to put under the slow mode.
  • Step 3: Next, you will have to select ‘Permissions’ that includes various segments such as ‘Sending messages’, ‘Media’, ‘Links’, etc.
  • Step 4: After that, you will have to choose the duration of the exception you are putting that member under.
  • Step 5: Lastly, you will have to tap on the ‘Apply’ option present at the upper right corner of your screen.
