How to Change Taskbar Size in Windows 11?

Changing the size of the taskbar is pretty easy. You can change the taskbar size using a simple registry tweak. Then set the taskbar size to one of three sizes: small, medium, or large. Adjusting the size will affect both the bar and any icons within it including the Start, search, and task view buttons. The height of the taskbar may vary based on your screen resolution.

  1. First, you will have to open the Regedit. You can do this by hitting Windows key plus R key and typing Regedit or by searching for Regedit, using the search menu.
  2. After this, navigate as shown below:

“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Advanced”.

Note: there are no spaces inside the navigating address. 

  1. Now create a new DWORD (32 – bit) Value by right-clicking the mouse in the right window pane. Then click on the New > DWORD (32 – bit) value.
  2. After this name the value TaskbarSi.
  3. After the completion of the above steps, set the value of the TaskbarSi to one of the following: 0, 1, or 2. This means small, medium, or large. To set the value to the TaskbarSi you will have to double click on the value.
  4. Once it’s finished close the Regedit and then reboot your system.

You either restart the computer or log out and then log back in. You can do this by right-clicking the start menu and then choosing one of the options in the Shutdown or sign-out menu.

Default Taskbar Size: How to Change the Taskbar Size Back to Normal Size?

The default taskbar size can be restored by deleting the TaskbarSi value. To do this:

  1. Open the Regedit. To do this, press the Windows key plus R key and type Regedit in the text box. Or you can search for it, using the search menu.
  2. After this, navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Advanced” (No Space).
  3. Now create a new DWORD (32 – bit) Value by right-clicking the mouse in the right window pane. Select New > DWORD (32 – bit) value.
  4. After this select the value TaskbarSi and delete the value.
  5. Now close the Regedit and reboot your system. After the reboot, the Windows 11 taskbar will return to its normal size.

If you do not want to delete the value you change it by double-clicking the value and making it 1. Then reboot the system. 

Taskbar Icons: How to Resize the Taskbar Icons?

If your Windows 11 taskbar icons not appearing, then you can consider resizing them. Although there is no separate way or registry value that will resize the icons. But resizing the taskbar itself changes the size of the icons. 

To resize the taskbar icons, you will have to change the value in the TaskbarSi itself. Choosing 0 will make the smaller taskbar icons while setting the value to 2 will make the icons look bigger.

Taskbar Hiding: Windows 11 Taskbar Not Going Down

If your worry is the Windows 11 taskbar not going down then don’t worry just follow these steps.

  1. Right-click on the taskbar.
  2. Go to taskbar settings
  3. Enable the automatically hide the taskbar in the desktop mode option. Doing this will automatically hide the taskbar whenever your mouse moves off of it. The taskbar will appear again when the mouse runs along with the button on the screen.

Task View: How to Get Rid of Task View in Windows 11 Taskbar?

If you are wondering how to get rid of task view in Windows 11 taskbar, then just follow these steps to remove the task view.

  1. Right-click on the taskbar.
  2. Select the show Task View button from the list.

 If you want you can remove the task view by unchecking the box beside Show Task View from taskbar settings.

Volume Mixer: How to Get the Volume Mixer Back on the Taskbar in Windows 11?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to pin the volume mixer to the taskbar, but you can easily access it by right-clicking the volume icon on the taskbar. Now select the volume mixer. Another way to do this is by going to settings > sound > volume mixer to control the volume settings.
